What Is The Purpose Of Existence? Why Was I Born?

What Is The Purpose Of Existence? Why Was I Born?

From the book “The Seth Material:”

“… you must be taught and trained to create responsibly. Yours is a training system for emerging consciousness.”

“You are learning to be cocreators. You are learning to be gods as you now understand the term. You are learning responsibility- the responsibility of any individualized consciousness. You are learning to handle the energy that is yourself, for creative purposes.”

From “The Early Sessions:”

“The child must mature, and your system is a maturing ground, a very primary one…. A beginning school…”

“The human race is a stage though which various forms of consciousness travel. Before you can be allowed into systems of reality that are more extensive and open, you must first learn to handle energy and see, through physical materialization, the concrete result of thought and emotion.”

“In more advanced systems, thoughts, and emotions are automatically and immediately translated into action, into whatever approximation of matter there exists. Therefore, the lessons must be taught and learned well. The responsibility for creation must be clearly understood.”

According to Seth, the physical world can be thought of as an elementary school. We are all enrolled in a cosmic grade school and we are here to learn AND to enjoy our being. In the fertile soil of physical reality we are meant to grow and blossom.

Our day to day experience is our classroom, and we are learning the A.B.C.’s of how to use energy so that we can become conscious co-creators with the Univeral Spirit, Mind, God, All THAT IS, or whatever term you prefer. On the one hand we are each unique manifestations of the Universal Spirit/All That Is, and on the other hand we are individual “infant” gods, or gods in training.

One of the most important lessons to be learned is that we create our own reality, according to our thoughts, emotions and beliefs. We each have access to unlimited energy and the inner knowledge of our “soul” or greater identity, and we are supposed to learn how to use our awesome power with skill and wisdom.

We Choose The Life We Live

We Choose The Life We Live

“I was once a mother with twelve children. Ignorant in terms of education, far from beautiful, particularly in later years, with a wild temper and raucous voice. This was around Jerusalem in the sixth century. The children had many fathers. I did my best to provide for them.

“My name was Marshaba. We lived wherever we could, squatting in doorways and, finally, all begging. Yet in that existence, physical life had a contrast, a sharpness greater than any I had known. A crust of bread was far more delicious to me than any piece of cake, however well frosted, had ever been in lives before.

“When my children laughed I was overwhelmed with delight, and despite our privations, each morning was a triumphant surprise that we had not died in our sleep, that we had not succumbed to starvation.

“I chose that life deliberately, as each of you choose each of yours, and I did so because my previous lives had left me too blase. I was too cushioned. I no longer focused with clarity upon the truly spectacular physical delights and experiences that earth can provide.

“Though I yelled at my children and screamed sometimes in rage against the elements, I was struck through with the magnificence of existence, and learned more about true spirituality than I ever did as a monk. This does not mean that poverty leads to truth, or that suffering is good for the soul.

“Many who shared those conditions with me learned little. It does mean that each of you choose those life conditions that you have for your own purpose, knowing ahead of time where your weaknesses and strengths lie.

“In the gestalt of my personality, as in your terms I lived later richer lives, that woman was alive again in me—as, for example, the child is alive in the adult, and filled with gratitude comparing later circumstances to the earlier existences. She urged me to use my advantages better.”

Christ’s Message Was That Each Man Is Inherently Good

Christ's Message Was That Each Man Is Inherently Good

“Christ’s message was that each man is inherently good, and is an individualized portion of the divine – and yet a civilization based upon that precept has never been attempted. The vast social structures of Christianity were instead based upon man’s ‘sinful’ nature – not the organizations and structures that might allow him to become good, or to obtain the goodness that Christ quite clearly perceived man already possessed.”

Love, Sexuality and The Conjured Relationships by The Law of Attraction

Love, Sexuality and The Conjured Relationships by The Law of Attraction

“Love is a biological necessity, a force operating to one degree or another in all biological life. Without love there is no physical commitment to life—no psychic hold.

“Love exists whether or not it is sexually expressed, though it is natural for love to seek expression. Love implies loyalty. It implies commitment. This applies to lesbian and homosexual relationships as well as to heterosexual ones. In your society, however, identity is so related to sexual stereotypes that few people know themselves well enough to understand the nature of love, and to make any such commitments.

“A transitory period is currently taking place, in which women seem to seek the promiscuous sexual freedom more generally granted to men. It is believed that males are naturally promiscuous, aroused by sexual stimuli almost completely divorced from any complementary ‘deeper’ response. The male, then, is thought to want sex whether or not he has any love response to the woman in question—or sometimes to desire her precisely because he does not love her. In such cases, sex becomes not an expression of love, but an expression of derision or scorn.

“So women, accepting these ideas often, seek for a situation in which they too can feel free to express their sexual desires openly, whether or not any love is involved. Yet loyalty is love’s partner, and the primates display such evidence in varying degrees. The male in particular has been taught to separate love and sex, so that a schizophrenic condition results that tears apart his psyche — in operational terms — as he lives his life.

The expression of sexuality is considered male, while the expression of love is not considered manly. To some extent or another, then, the male feels forced to divide the expression of his love from the expression of his sexuality. It would be disastrous for women to follow the same course.

This great division has led to your major wars. This does not mean that men were alone responsible for wars. It does mean that the male so divorced himself from the common fountain of love and sex that the repressed energy came forth in those aggressive acts of cultural rape and death, instead of birth.

When you look at the animal kingdom, you suppose that the male chooses blindly, led by “dumb” instinct, so that in overall terms one female will do as well as any other. When you discover that a certain chemical or scent will attract a certain male insect, for example, you take it for granted that element is alone responsible for drawing the male to the female. You take it for granted, in other words, that individual differences do not apply in such cases so remote from your own reality.

You simply are not able to understand the nature of such consciousness, and so you interpret their behavior according to your beliefs.  This would be sad enough if you did not often use such distorted data to further define the nature of male and female behavior.

“In so distorting your ideas of sex, you further limit the great capacities of human loyalty, which is always connected with love and love’s expression. Lesbian and homosexual relationships then are at best tenuous, overwrought with confused emotions, very seldom able to maintain a stability that allows for individual growth. Heterosexual relationship also break down, for the identity of each partner becomes based upon sexual roles that may or may not apply to the individuals involved.

“Since you feel that sex is the only proper method of love’s expression, and yet also believe that sex and love are divided, you are in a quandary. These sexual beliefs are also far more important in national relationships than you realize, for you attempt to take what you think of as a masculine stance as a nation. So, for example, does Russia. India takes a feminine stance — in terms of your beliefs, now.

“One small note: A male with growths of any kind — kidney stones or ulcers, for example — has tendencies he considers feminine and, therefore, “dependent” of which he is ashamed.  In a mock biological ceremony, he gives birth to the extent that he produces within his body material that was not there before. In ulcers, the stomach becomes the womb — bloodied, giving birth to sores — his interpretation of a male’s “grotesque” attempt to express feminine characteristics.”

~ SETH [The Nature of the Psyche, Session 770]

CONCLUSION: Sex is an expression of love and if it’s not used in such manner, the energy is being misused and misdirected.

A Sure Way To Achieve Goals

A Sure Way To Achieve Goals

Your goals are usually conceptualized desires, and once formed they act…like magnets, drawing from those vast fields of interrelatedness…conditions best suited to their fulfillment.

Those desires of yours that are fitting to your nature will automatically come to pass, unless you block them through disadvantageous beliefs.

 • They cannot be blocked by others. If they seem to be blocked by others, that assumption is incorrect, based on ignorance.
 • When the intellect is used properly, it thinks of a goal and automatically arouses other levels of communication unknown to it, so that all forces work together toward the achievement.
 • When the intellect is improperly used, it is as if the intellect feels required to somehow know or personally direct all of those inner processes.
 • The intellect alone cannot bring about the fulfillment of those goals. It must count upon those other properties that it does indeed set in motion – that spontaneous array of inner complexity, that orderly magic.
 • The intellect imagines a goal and imaginatively then attains it.
 • The vital word is ease or effortlessness.
 • Say, “That is not my realm. I will leave the solution to that problem or goal where it belongs.”
 • Forget the questions and the mood that accompanies them in order to create the proper kind of atmosphere at another level of consciousness.

If the proper creative and magical orientation is kept primarily in mind, other things will fall into place.

 • Once you begin consciously working with Framework 2, help, support, solutions – all begin to come, for you line up your conscious faculties with your unconscious ones, in the most beneficial way.
 • Even when nothing shows in physical reality, all the proper circumstances and conditions are being brought together.
 • Because the organization is so different, you must forget cause and effect, for things fall into place almost in a circular fashion.
 • They may appear suddenly, or they may not appear in the order in which you think they should, because your vision must be limited in comparison to that available in the spacious present.
 • All energy at the inner self’s disposal is concentrated to bring about the results asked for by the conscious mind.
 • Your inner self brings about your desire, but also considers it in the light of your entire life situation, so that it comes about in the best way – and time – possible.
 • Your conscious goals fit in with your unconscious natural goals, then – the primary ones given at birth. You are right with yourself again.

Expectancy and inner confidence always bring the best results with the least effort.

 • The conscious mind does not have to have all the information required. It only needs to have the faith that means are available, even if those means are beyond its own scope of activity.
 • Comparatively speaking, a small number of clearly felt connections with Framework 2 can undo a year’s doubts.
 • Natural optimism is a power in the individual and in the world. It believes in triumph, in pleasant, unpredictable surprises, in unexpected solutions, and joyful occurrences.
 • The power of the universe is a personal one. When your intent is clear, events fall into place, from the most minute to the most momentous, that bring your desires to pass.

To act in an independent manner, you must begin to initiate action that you want to occur physically.

 • You change your focus point. You change what you consider significant.
 • This is done by combining belief, emotion and imagination, and forming them into a mental picture of the desired result.
 • Concentrate upon the goal, rather than the means of attaining it, and you will attain it.
 • It is your feelings and your impulses that you trust that will lead you to whatever you want.
 • When you learn to trust your feelings and your impulses, something very strange happens. They turn quite trustworthy.

Your clear intent sets forces working for you. The clear intent takes it for granted that the results will indeed be highly beneficial, and not cause detriments.

 • Thoughts of abundance affect the inner order of events.
 • You can think of what you will do with the money – how you cause it to increase life’s enjoyment, which will in turn benefit you and others.
 • Such imaginings can be quite helpful.
 • Ask and you shall receive. Ask half-heartedly and you shall receive in exactly that measure.
 • I would like you to give suggestions before sleep that in one way or another during the dream state your knowledge will be increased.
 • You doubt your ability to impress your desires upon the (spacious present) properly. Your faith is not secure here.
 • Rupurt did not have to do anything of a conscious nature, except to state his intentions.

The physical planning carried out, then, is in line with the envisioned future, and brings it about.

 • You are at times ignoring significant clues that say your desires are being formed, seeing them instead as insignificant.
 • Now that causes an additional tension — and impediments — that slow down the process to whatever degree, which is exactly what you want to avoid.
 • You must be willing to change all the way from the old system of orientation to the new, if you want the new approach to work fully for you in your lives.
 • Organize your reality according to your playfulness, according to your dreams, according to your joy, according to your hopes. And then you can help those who organize their realities according to their fears.
 • Faith in a creative, fulfilling, desired end – sustained faith – literally draws from the universe all of the necessary ingredients, all of the elements however staggering in number, all of the details, and then inserts into physical life the impulses, dreams, chance meetings, motivations, or whatever is necessary so that the desired end then falls into place as a completed pattern.

Live Each Day Fully And Joyfully

Live Each Day Fully And Joyfully

“It is perfectly fine to make plans for the future, yet each individual should live day by day, without worrying about the outcome of those plans.

“The physical body can only react in the present moment. Worrying about future events, or dwelling upon past unfavorable situations, only confuses the body’s mechanisms, and undermines their precise activity in the present moment.

“I am not saying that anyone should pretend that unfavorable circumstances do not sometimes exist, or that they may not be encountered in the past, present, or future.

“It is also true, however, that advantageous events occur with a far greater frequency than do negative ones–otherwise the world that you know simply would not exist. It would have disappeared in the throes of destruction or calamity.

“In a basic way, it is against nature’s purposes to contemplate a dire future, for all of nature operates on the premise that the future is assured. Nature is everywhere filled with promise–not only the promise of mere survival, but the promise of beauty and fulfillment.

“That keen sense of promise is innate within each portion of the body. It triggers the genes and chromosomes into their proper activity, and it promotes feelings of optimism, exuberance, and strength. …

“Live each day as fully and joyfully as possible. Imagine the best possible results of any plans or projects. Above all, do not concentrate upon past unfavorable events, or imagined future ones.”

The Past Lives of Seth, The Original Teacher of Law of Attraction

The Past Lives of Seth, The Original Teacher of Law of Attraction

It is not my purpose to go into my past existences in any great detail, but to use them to make certain points. First of all, I have been many times both man and woman, and I have immersed myself in various occupations, but always with the idea of learning so that I could teach. I had a firm background in physical existence, therefore, as a prerequisite for my present “work.”

I did not play the part of any towering personality of historical note, but became experienced in the homey and intimate details of daily life, the normal struggle for achievement, the need for love. I learned the unutterable yearning of father for son, son for father, husband for wife, wife for husband, and fell headlong into the intimate webs of human relationships. Before your idea of history, I was a Lumanian, and was later born in Atlantis.

Using your historical reference, I returned at the time of the cavemen, operating as a Speaker. Now I have always been a Speaker, regardless of my physical occupation. I have been a spice merchant in Denmark, where I knew Ruburt and Joseph. In several lives I was black – once in what is now called Ethiopia, and once in Turkey.

My lives as monks followed my experience as a pope, and in one of these, I was a victim of the Spanish Inquisition. My experience in female lives varied from that of a plain Dutch spinster to a courtesan at the time of the biblical David, to several existences as a humble mother with children.

Now when I began contacting Ruburt and Joseph, I hid from them the fact of my numerous lives. Ruburt, in particular, did not accept reincarnation, and the idea of such multiple life experiences would have been highly scandalous to him.

The times and names and dates are not nearly as important as the experiences, and they are too numerous to list here. However, I will see to it at some time that these are made fully available. Some have been given in Ruburt’s class sessions, and some, though few, have appeared The Seth Material itself.

In a book on reincarnation, I hope to have each of my previous personalities speak for themselves, for they should tell their own story. You should understand, therefore, that those personalities still exist and are independent. While what I am once seemed to be contained within those personalities, I was but the seed for them.

In your terms, I can remember who I was; in greater terms, however, those personalities should speak for themselves. Perhaps you will see an analogy here when you compare the situation with age regression under hypnosis. Those personalities are not locked up inside of what I am, however. They have progressed according to their own fashion. They are not negated. In my terms, they coexist with me, but at another layer of reality.

In several lives I was consciously aware of my “past existences.” Once as a monk I found myself copying a manuscript that I myself had written in another life.

Often I was given to the love of weight, and possessed it. Twice I died of starvation. I always found my deaths highly educational – in your terms, afterwards. It was always a lesson between lives to trace the thoughts and events that “led to a given demise.”

None of my deaths surprised me. I felt during the process the inevitability, the recognition, even a sense of familiarity: “Of course, this particular dying is mine and no other.” And I accepted even the most bizarre circumstances then, feeling almost a sense of perfection. The life could not be finished properly without the death.

There is a great sense of humility, and yet a great sense of exaltation as the inner self senses its freedom when death occurs. All my deaths were the complement of my lives, in that it seemed to me that it could not be otherwise.

If I choose, in your terms I can relive any portion of those existences, but those personalities go their own way.

Why You Are Here

Why You Are Here

“Your spirit joined itself with flesh, and in flesh, to experience a world of incredible richness, to help create a dimension of reality of colors and of form. Your spirit was born in flesh to enrich a marvelous area of sense awareness, to feel energy made into corporeal form.

“You are here to use, enjoy, and express yourself through the body. You are here to aid in the great expansion of consciousness.

“You are not here to cry about the miseries of the human condition, but to change them when you find them not to your liking through the joy, strength and vitality that is within you; to create the spirit as faithfully and beautifully as you can in flesh.”

I Live In A Safe Universe

I Live In A Safe Universe

“Now—each of you, to some degree or another here, believe that the universe is not safe, and therefore you must set up your defenses against it,’ Seth said that summer evening.

“Now, the one-line, official consciousness with which you are familiar, says: ‘The world is not safe. I cannot trust it. Nor can I trust the condition of experience, or the condition of my own existence; nor can I trust myself. …

“You have an entire civilization and world set up about those beliefs I have just given you: that the universe is not safe; that you must defend yourselves from enemies that come from without, and worst of all, from enemies that are within.

“And so indeed do you feel uneasy, and set up your barriers, and run as fast as you can, in whatever way given you, from those enemies that are the result of a one-line official kind of consciousness.

“As long as you believe that you dwell in a universe that is a threat, you must defend yourself against it. As long as you believe that the self is flawed, and that your race is damned and evil, you must also defend yourself against yourself, and how can you then trust the voice of the psyche? …

“You try to say, ‘The universe is safe,’ and then you watch the news on television, or you read your newspaper and you say, ‘What lie is this? How can the universe be safe when I read about wholesale murder, and war, and trickery and greed? …

“The one-line stage of consciousness was necessary for reason that Ruburt has given [in Psychic Politics and Adventures in Consciousness]. But that stage contained within it its own impetus. It set up challenges that could not be solved at that stage of consciousness, and that would automatically lead you into other strands of awareness. Only then can those contradictions make sense.

“Only then can you say, individually—and listen, now—‘I LIVE IN A SAFE UNIVERSE.’”

Is There A Santa Claus

Is There A Santa Claus

“Let me begin humorously by saying, “Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus.” In the same way, yes, there is a God.

“The earth emerges. It is given, like a gift to you at your birth. It is there then like Santa Claus’s toys when you were a child; and you ask, who is the giver?

“The child accepts the Santa Claus answer for some years and then becomes disillusioned, realizing that the Santa Claus of Christmas tales is a myth. So in many ways the stories of a God are myths. But you are still left with a bag of toys on the one hand and the luxurious earth on the other, so the question still remains.

“My answer is that the myths in their own way try to hint at answers that are basically nonverbal, and at concepts that are themselves the fountainhead from which the earth and all existence springs.”

You’re Not A Victim

You’re Not A Victim

“Amid the mad scramble, you DO make your own reality. I admit that this sounds too simple, but you will not be caught in an earthquake if you do not want to be; and no one dies who has not decided to do so.

“You make your own reality—or you do not. And if you do not, then you are everywhere a victim, and the universe must be an accidental mechanism appearing with no reason. So that the miraculous picture you have seen of your body came accidentally into creation, and out of some cosmic accident attained its miraculous complexity. And that body was formed so beautifully for no reason except to be a victim.

“That is the only other alternative to forming your own reality. You cannot have a universe in between. You have a universe formed WITH a reason, or a universe formed WITHOUT a reason. And in a universe of reason, there are no victims. Everything has a reason, or nothing has a reason.

“So—choose your side!”

Spiritual Meaning of Rainbows

Spiritual Meaning of Rainbows

A rainbow has a spiritual meaning attached to it in the form of an inner awakening caused by the shining through of light embedded in positive attributes, such as truth and wisdom. Rainbows are renowned for their brilliant colors, which vary in intensity and number. Rainbows are beautiful and unique natural phenomena, which makes them suitable for holding magical value and spiritual meaning.

Many people ascribe to the spiritual attributes of rainbows, but the original assignor of spiritual meaning to rainbows was Emanuel Swedenborg. Swedenborg recognized the global value of light, primarily from a spiritual context. Swedenborg related the significance of the radiant light emanated from rainbows to the light emitted by individuals through good actions, such as telling the truth and having wisdom. Allowing truth and wisdom to shine through, Swedenborg believed, helped to abolish the darkness caused by negative emotions and attributes, such as doubt, despair and wrongdoings.

The colors of rainbows vary and appear differently depending on their surroundings. Some colors are absorbed by surrounding objects, which makes them appear absent from rainbows, while others are reflected from surfaces and make rainbows appear vivid and bright. In the spiritual context, colors emitted from rainbows are never considered lost but have an innate source of inner beauty that opens and shines in through transparent water droplets in the rain.
